The election is over. The fight is not.

Bush's election is bad for the US, and even worse for the rest of the world. But elections are only one part of democracy. We need to think strategically about direct action, learn from a rich history of nonviolent activism, and develop new tactics to take on this administration.

Let's start from the start: Inauguration Day.

On January 20th, 2005, we're calling for a new kind of action. The Bush administration has been successful at keeping protesters away from major events in the last few years by closing off areas around events and using questionable legal strategies to outlaw public dissent. We can use these obstacles to develop new tactics. On Inauguration day, we don't need banners, we don't need signs, we don't need puppets, we just need people.

We're calling on people to attend inauguration without protest signs, shirts or stickers. Once through security and at the procession, at a given signal, we'll all turn our backs on Bush's motorcade and continue through his speech and swearing in. A simple, clear and coherent message.

3:13 pm - Hmm

I don't know if this is true ::runs to JJB::

Justin Timberlake Accused of Using The 'N' Word

A former *NSYNC employee has filed suit against the group in the New York State Supreme Court, County of New York.

In the 18-page complaint, *NSYNC members Justin R. Timberlake, James L. Bass, Joshua S. Chasez, Christopher A. Kirkpatrick, Joseph A. Fatone, Jr., Zeeks, Inc., *NSYNC Inc. and Skeez, LLC are being sued for $10 million by Ibrahim Duarte for their discriminatory decision to terminate his employment as *NSYNC's tour manager.

"I was shocked to learn that *NSYNC, who cross so many cultural divides, engage in such deplorable conduct," said Douglas Wigdor, the attorney for Duarte.

The complaint alleges that when the band achieved popularity and financial success, the band member's verbal use of racial slurs towards Duarte and other African American employees became more frequent, and even reached a point where Justin Timberlake used the "N" word towards Duarte. The 22-year-old singer is said to have insulted Duarte by telling him: "You niggers ain't s**t."

Interestingly, *NSYNC and Timberlake is managed by Wright Entertainment Group, which is headed by Johnny Wright, an African American. However, Duarte says he was let go after *NSYNC's No Strings Attached tour in 2000 because *NSYNC was ashamed of having a black "front man" - and was replaced by a white man with "significantly less experience."

"This was not the first time that the band had mistreated me. They still owe more than $155,000 in unpaid salary and per diem. Hopefully this lawsuit will help them realize that they can't step on people they feel are below them, " said Duarte.

When EUR spoke to *NSYNC's New York based attorney, Helene Freeman, for whatever reason, she became hostile. She barely let us ask what was her response to the suit before going into a rant and inferring that Duarte was an independent contractor and was not paid because he did not submit the proper paperwork. That was about all we got before she hung up on us.

11:28 pm - JC Insists His Sexy New Album Is Clean

October 4, 2003
'N Sync star JC Chasez wants to make sure censors don't slap a parental advisory warning on the cover of his first solo album.

The Blowin' Me Up (With her Love) singer's album Schizophrenic is littered with sexual references, but the pop star insists it's all just good clean fun.

He says, "I don't think it's going to have an advisory sticker. If there is, it's for a very slim reason.

"I don't think it's so bad. I'm just speaking my mind from a 27-year-old's point of view."

The new album is due in stores at the end of this month.

2:46 am - Update!
beannie I haven't updated my LJ for about a year, but I've kept up to date with reading my friends page. So glad to hear everyone's updates!

I'm a sophomore at Univ. of Pennsylvania. Mel goes here too, but she's a grad student. I will probably major in Economics and/or International Relations with a possible minor in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. I have no idea what to do after I graduate from college, but I really like my school ^_^

I'm totally out of the loop with *NSYNC, but I crack up whenever I hear Justin's "Gentlemen-good night. Ladies- good mornin'." Hilarious.

I've got a boyfriend of five months. He's totally clueless but very sweet.

Ahhnohhd has just won the recall election. I am so glad I don't live in California. (State pride, Sue?)

Mel: You and I should go to South Street or something. Meet eligible men at all the tattoo parlors and what-not...

4:53 pm - Giddy Reunion!

Hey all lost Giddyfers, it's Michelle. Uh...I'm the one that has the Hootie Hoo Bot on AIM. Heh. It does still make an appearance now and again but I'm usually on this upstairs computer that does not have the program.

Random factoid: Raychel and I have 28 common interests on lj. Now why the hell did I not have her on my friends list?! Problem corrected.

I also have not had contact with many Giddies recently, only through LiveJournal though I still have 18 SN's on AIM, most of those all people with journals well.

Anyway...exciting news update. Well recently I could not believe it was FIVE YEARS AGO that Giddy enthusiasm started, when I was 14, (actually about 4 1/2 years ago). I turned 19 at the end of August, and am currently in my second semester at Wayne State University in Detroit, majoring in art -- photography, more specifically. Whee!
For a more detailed upate...contact me!

10:46 pm - Reunion catchup

I've kept in touch with probably everyone who updates their journals and I've fallen out of touch with everyone else.

Uh, I hope everyone remembers me. I mean, I WAS a moderator at GGRSC.

So let's play catchup. . .

I am turning 22 this Sunday. I graduated Rutgers University this past May with a B.A. in Genetics and Microbiology. This past August, I moved to a little one bedroom apartment in Center City, Philadelphia so I could attend graduate school at U Penn. (apparently I moved to the right part of Philly- U Penn is in West Philly- where WIll Smith is from- and there have been like 13 robberies so far, and two people got shot. It's quieter where I live) I'm a PhD student in the Cell and Molecular Graduate Group and I'm actually supposed to be putting the final touches on my presentation for tomorrow's first year seminar class instead of procrastinating! So I'm pretty much the opposite of Raychel. She'll be getting a lot of money for a little bit of work, and I'll be working like a dog at all hours of the night and weekends for only 23K a year (that's my stipend).

Living in Philly is different from living with my parents. First, living alone is kinda lonely, but I have so much work, that I'm always busy. I can eat whatever I want for dinner, but I worry about not eating enough vegetables, cause I don't have any ideas on how to cook them. Everything is so much more expensive here- there's no ShopRite with double coupons. It's weird, but I can walk pretty much anywhere I need to go. Or I can use public transportation. Before I moved, I couldn't believe that I'd be giving up my car, but it's not so bad.

I haven't gotten a chance to go out much in Philly and I'm still single. One thing basically causes the other, I guess. I'm stuck in a never ending cycle! And I haven't run into any cute guys at U Penn.

So that's my life currently. The one bright spot is my approaching vacation. I'm going to Trinidad this Christmas! It'll be my first time back there in SIX years. I can't believe it took me so long to go back. I am so psyched about seeing my family and eating KFC Hot and Spicy fried chicken. It'll be awesome, because I'm finally old enough to go out- I'll be drinking every day! Also, the period after Christmas starts the Carnival season, so hopefully there should be a lot to do.

OK, I really need to go work on my presentation.

6:34 pm - Giddy Reunion

I think all of us giddy girls need to have an online reuinion. Yay?

Out of all of the giddy girls I have kept in touch with... Meg (on occasion), Ana (through e-mail) and Mel (on IM)... I haven't really kept in contact with much of you all. And infact, I fear you may not remember me.

For those who don't remember me... well I'm Raychel! The little writer girl.

ANYWAY, I seriously think we all need to have a little bit of a reunion. We need to get in touch again. You know, check in, see how everyone's doin'. So I hope that I can possibly start a trend. I'm going to give all of you an update on my life...

Well as some of you may know, I am now 18. I am an adult. Woo. I graduated high school and am studying to be a medical transcriptionist. AKA lots of money for not so much work and or schooling. Go me. I've branched out into the screenwriting side of life. It's become my new goal. Well that and novel writing. Depending on my home status, I may be doing NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writer's Month. It lasts all Nov, and you work to get up to 50,000 words. Kinda hard, and kinda easy)

In a couple of weeks, my family, including me, will all be moving to Las Vegas. My dad has a job there, being the adnimistrator of two working imaging facilities (MRI's, X-Rays and such). So I will live there until September...

September of 2004, I will be moving out, on my own, to the land of silicone mounds, aka Hollywood. Crazy, huh? But the tips and what not that I have been looking into say that to make it as a screenwriter you need to look serious, and to look serious, you need to live in LA. So I will be doing such.

I'm a mommy! Okay not really. But I did just recently get my first "responsibility". I got a kitten. Her name is Audrey. She's the sweetest thing in the world and she's completely my responsibility. I had to pay for her vet bills when she had to get medicine for combonation diahrea and worms *squirm*. And then I will have to pay for her bills when she gets spayed and has the rest of her vaccinations.

Alrighty, not sure what else to say.... I am not working right now, sadly. But I will be when I move to Vegas. We're thinking something along the lines of hostess job in a casino... lol actually I'm looking for something to do in the area we will live... Not sure I think it's Desert Shores? I don't know.

I think that's it. Yeah most likely.

Okay I want to hear from all of the old giddy girls! I want to know what all of you are up to!

Love you all

4:18 pm - Justin voted sexiest man alive

Justin overtakes Becks
4 August 2003
Pop superstar Justin Timberlake is the world's sexiest man, according to a poll published today.

The former NSync singer overtook David Beckham to top Company magazine's annual 100 Sexiest Men survey.

The 22-year-old hunk, currently romancing Cameron Diaz, shot up 46 places to take the crown after enjoying an extraordinary year of success.

Hollywood star Brad Pitt was in third place, followed by Duncan James from Blue and Robbie Williams.

But there was bad news for Robbie as he also came seventh in the world's unsexiest man poll, narrowly beating Prime Minister Tony Blair.

In the sexiest man list, Irish bad boy Colin Farrell was the highest new entry at number six.

And Shane Ritchie was named the 17th sexiest man on the planet after his role as EastEnders' Alfie Moon turned him into an unlikely heart-throb.

Company editor Sam Baker said: "It takes a special sort of bloke to knock David Beckham off his throne but Justin has done just that in the space of 12 short months.

"But the biggest shock of the list is the emergence of Shane Ritchie as a bona-fide sex symbol. Women have obviously fallen head over heels for the bumbling incurable romantic Alfie Moon."

Congratulations J.

11:20 am - IMAX on TV?

'*NSYNC: Bigger Than Live' Imax Film Coming To Television
Wed Apr 10, 9:07 PM ET

(4/10/02, 6 p.m. ET) -- *NSYNC's Imax concert film, *NSYNC (news - web sites): Bigger Than Live, will make its network television debut on the WB Network at 8 p.m. ET on April 25. The concert footage in the one-hour special was shot during the group's tour in support of its 2000 album, No Strings Attached.

The special features the group's most popular songs, including "Tearing Up My Heart," "Bye Bye Bye," "It's Gonna Be Me," and "This I Promise You," among others. The concert was recorded with seven high-tech cameras at four locations in the United States, and the film will feature groupmember interviews that were conducted specifically for the Imax film.

Jordan Levin, the president of entertainment for the WB, said in a statement, "*NSYNC is one of the most popular groups today, particularly with our target audience of teens and young adults. We are fortunate to be able to acquire this exclusive television premiere Imax film and believe it reinforces our ability to connect with our audience through music."

*NSYNC broke the record for the fastest-selling album in history when 2.4 million copies of No Strings Attached were sold in a single week in March 2000. For more information about the Imax film, go to nsyncbiggerthanlive.com.
